The female figure reminds me of my Norwegian grandmother who never ever smiled

The reverse side has four vertical groups of alternating thin single strand wool sideways "V's"

This fully imbricated polychrome huckleberry basket has three rows of figures on it

Around the handle grip is carved "Made by Wm Nichols of Kas" and at end of the handle the date "1888"

First Prize Hopi Bowl by Violet Huma Frog Woman He is not ferociousThis is a large and handsome redware bowl with traditional Hopi designs signed "Violet Huma". The geometric polychrome designs wrap around the entire outside of the bowl as well as a wide band on the inside of the bowl, just below the lip. Attached to the base of the bowl is a first prize ribbon from the Museum of Northern Arizona, Flagstaff. It has penciled on the bottom 3 63 which may indicate that it was purchased in March, 1963.
