The Royal Canadian Mounted Police tartan was designed in 1998 by Mrs. Violet Holmes of Burnaby, BC to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Force. The colours of the tartan are represented by: DARK BLUE for the colour of the breeches worn by the regular members, SCARLET for the world renowned serge tunic, YELLOW for the cavalry
