This species can reach about 2 metres tall and has large beautiful leaves, a very large pachycaul form and striking red grape like fruit. It is a deciduous plant. It grows in an arid region of summer rainfall, and it loses its leaves in the dryer winter. These plants are very tough but do not like heavy frost. Often in colder climates
