Istana Oriental Rug oriental-rugs cool in summerBased on an original Asmara painting inspired by 17th century Persian silk brocades at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The recurring pattern of flower heads cupped inside curving vines is rendered in gold, apple green and touches of eggplant on a dark brown ground. This hand made cut and loop pile rug was made by combining a loop weave invented by Asmara with the ancient French Savonnerie pile weave. Woven with a complex yarn made up several
